Interesting things about hanging with hostesses in Japan

Hey yall, lately I have been spending time with a group of hostesses from Roppongi/Akasaka. Japans hostesses live a pretty much charmed life. Here is a rundown of Sunday: eat at a restaurant that their club owns, so everything was free, next its on one of the sister clubs and get free drinks, this is on their day off by the way, what makes things better, the girls get paid for showing up and hanging out in the joint, thats right, getting paid to hang out at a place. The only thing that isnt good, is that they have to entertain boring people and its the same type of ish day in and out, oh and they have to deal with socially inept people all the time and cant find anyone good to go out with. People think hostesses are playthings and dont treat them right. All the hostesses that I have hung out with, really want someone nice but because of their job and their obvious hostess vibe, they only attract nampas or girl hunters and other sleaze balls. Maybe its just the girls that I have been hanging out with because I have heard some horror stories involving gangsters, perverts and stalkers. But from what I have seen and heard, Japan is pretty much a safe place for hostesses. The money and perks are big but their love life suffers, thats the consequence. I guess I am just lucky. But deep down everyone wants the same things, no matter if they are a hostess or a plain office worker.

Apathy the cure for todays woes?…

I just saw the movie Se7en again. I forgot what a great movie it was. So in a discussion between Dt. Summerset, Morgan Freemans character and Dt. Mills, Brad Pitts character, Morgan Freeman said that apathy was how the world works. Though, the preceeding opinion is pessimistic, it is a half truth because I believe miracles and good things happen everyday. It doesnt matter how much impact your actions make, the most important thing is that you chose to do the right thing. If you havent already seen Se7en, the last scene is a total mind fuck, I highly recommend watching Se7en.

A loser is a loser, no matter what country he lives in…

The above statement is an interesting quote from Desmond Campbell in this weeks issue of Metropolis [ February 15, 2008]. The Japan vortex is explained in this article. Little Fish, Bigger Pond Like I mentioned before in an earlier post, there are two kinds of people that come to Japan to teach: the adventurer and the loser. ahaha, Desmond totally nails this topic in the above mentioned article. Here are some of my favorite quotes from the article:

1. “While Japan is a wonderful country, it is not a miracle cure for personal deficiencies”
2. “…thanks to the language barrier, these women can’t tell that the foreigner doesn’t have a personality.”
And the best of all….
3. “Tired of women in your home country pointing out that you are fat, ugly and lack a personality? Want a career but have no discernable job skills and no motivation, and even McDonald’s won’t hire you? Sometimes wish that you could just disappear, start over, reinvent yourself? Then Japan is the right country for you! Be the Superstar you always wanted to be! Become one of the elite, the special, the Gaijin.”   Japan has been real good to me, I just thought this article was soooo funny and true.
