Hanami 2008 – Musashi Kogane Park

Hey yall, this is my second Hanami Party but instead of the craziness of Yoyogi Park, this time we headed to Musashi Kogane Park which is still in Tokyo but less crowded. The plan turned out to be a real good move. Thanks to Jill and Hide for organizing. The people at this Hanami were younger and crazier. I liked the people who where there but you can see the rift between the old and new ECC people. I had a great time with great people. Though the weather sucked, the people there more than made up for the shitty weather. Video of the Sakura trees aka Cherry Blossom Trees, they bloomed really early this year…

I made a decision for my next year…

Hello everyone, I have made a crucial decision for the next year of my life. Japan has taught me so many life lessons, my first year that I can not ever forget but I want to do more. My good friend Jeremy just came back from the Peace Boat and I am inspired to get on the boat for the next voyage. For those who do not know, the Peace Boat is a NGO or non governmental organization:

“Peace Boat seeks to create awareness and action based on effecting positive social and political change in the world. We pursue this through the organization of global educational programmes, responsible travel, cooperative projects and advocacy activities. These activities are carried out on a partnership basis with other civil society organizations and communities in Japan, Northeast Asia, and around the world.

Peace Boat carries out its main activities through a chartered passenger ship that travels the world on peace voyages. The ship creates a neutral, mobile space and enables people to engage across borders in dialogue and mutual cooperation at sea, and in the ports that we visit. Activities based on Japan and Northeast Asia are carried out from our eight Peace Centers in Japan.ce by utilizing English to bridge cultural ”

I want to experience the world and at the same time, continue to learn about myself. I really want this. I will keep trying until I get on this boat… If I do not make it for the 64th boat, I am planning to do some humanitarian work in Nepal with my friend Nripal, who’s ngo is in the links to the right, Abari.org. Nripal is doing such great things, checkout Nripals project to build a school…

Last Kids Classes for the year…

What a year this has been! All I have to say is that my mind and heart has been screwed with in so many good ways. Today completes my first contract with ECC! I finished my last kids class where two of the three kids didnt want me to go, it was so cute! One named Kanon started crying at the beginning of the class because she knew I would leave for Tokyo. Felicia was another student that said she didnt want another teacher and she didnt want me to go. For the first time in my life, I was given flowers! The gesture was so heart warming but I am a dude. Whats a dude going to do with a bouquet of flowers? Now a six pack of beer, I can understand! ahahah, just kidding. I received many gifts from the parents of the children that I taught, my favorites were the homemade cards! What an experience! Out of all the classes that I taught, it was the childrens classes that were the most rewarding. Those kids learn fast! When I have children, I want them to learn two languages and English! I will post pictures from my childrens classes. What I liked about ending the kids classes is that they ended like I was going to see them next week. I like the meaning behind that kind of ending and I think, if I should ever leave people thats how I want to leave them… Like we will see each other next week.[ Life.Iz.Good ]
