Okay everyone, I just got my schools for my new job. Two are in Shin-Yurigaoka and one is in Yomiuriland- mae all are about 15-20 minutes away by train. They are all junior high schools but one is on the Japan’s Women’s University campus. If I could get an assistant professor position at the university that will be so cool. That would require a CELTA certificate and maybe some post grad work, but I did some research and professors in Japan get about 6 months vacation and bonuses. I don’t know what I will do in Japan in the future but I know it will involve using Japanese and art/design.
Also, its Hanami time and what’s amazing is that for my birthday weekend, it’s also the Kanamara Festival aka the Penis Festival and the Cherry Blossoms will be in full bloom. Next weekend has the making of an awesome weekend.
I am now part of the iPhone snob class. In Japan, Softbank a major cellphone service provider is giving iPhone away for free with their iPhone for Everyone campaign. I picked up thw 18g white iPhone for around 100 usd. It is going to take some getting used but the benefits outweigh the limitations. My old phone had a really good Japanese to English scanning software that has helped me many times. I am sure I will find a suitable replacement app for my iPhone.
I went to this Tex/Mex restaurant in Ebisu called Zest. I went with a couple of co-workers and it just so happens that the day we decide to go to Zest, they have the mechanical bull up and running. Of course, I run up there to ride the bull. I busted my ass but it was fun. I injured my leg as I was riding the bull so now I have a bruise on my calf and I am limping. Its okay though, nothing seriously damaged, just a gimpy leg.
Bestides that, this week will be my last week with ECC. I am sad but then again, I am relieved and excited about starting something new. I have been studying a lot of Japanese lately and playing the guitar every day. I now have disgusting fingertips but my finger agility has increased. The piece of sheeyit guitar that I bought for 5.000 yen isnt good enough anymore, I went to a guitar shop to look at an upgrade and I could feel and hear the difference. But I digress, first things first and thats the new job, then playing Mina’s song and then vacation.
I can totally imagine a cpu embedded in the skull using the human eyes as the visual source as a future development of this technology. Totally awesome. But would you do it? Is the merging of humanity and technology inevitable?
So everyone, I have a decision to make… Do the Trans-Siberian railway or a Southeast Asia adventure. Since my new job has 6 weeks vacation for summer, I am planning on visiting one of my friends for an eclipse party in China then embarking on a trip on the Trans-Siberian railroad.
How I would like to do it is: go to Shanghai for the solar eclipse party then off to Beijing to link up with the railroad, head through Mongolia and checkout the Gobi desert and Mt. Everest Basecamp, then link up again with the TSrail near the Russian/Mongolian border then head to Moscow. Or take a ferry from Japan and link up with my friend in Vladivostok and take the long trip on the TSrail, stop over in Mongolia in the midway point and reconnect to Moscow.
My second option is to fly into Northern Thailand take a raft to the border of Laos and travel through to Northern Vietnam, make my way south and take an elephant trek to Angkor Wat.
I just watched Detroit Metal City. A story about a country bumpkin that dreams of living the city life as a pop star but instead becomes the frontman for a death metal band called Detroit Metal City. If you get a chance I recommend you watch this movie.
The song: 甘い恋人 Sweet Lovers / 殺害 Murder
( A taste of what Souichi longs for and what he does for a living)
