I went to the Ghibli Museum with MIna on Wednesday and what can I say… It was kind of a disappointment. The best part of the museum was an animation created by rotating 3d figures and flashing a strobe that flashed 18 times a second, the timing of the strobe and the rotation of the 3d models created the illusion of motion. I wish I got video but you are not allowed to take pictures or video in the inside of the museum. BS. I took some anyway but couldn’t get video, the narcs were everywhere.

The Ghibli Museum was a one time thing. I was disappointed because the website made the whole place sound really fun and entertaining. I had to reserve tickets in advance and travel all the way to Mitaka. I wouldn’t recommend visiting this museum of the Tezuka Osamu museum in Takarozuka unless you are a true fan.
I am immersing myself in Japanese from music/movies and television. I am hoping this exposure will somehow transform me into an elementary school level Japanese speaker within a year.
I have several promising interviews for work around Tokyo. I know I just got an offer as an ALT but I won’t stop looking until I have the best option that fits my criteria for using the Japanese language, possibility of advancement or some sort of direction, salary and holidays. I have two interviews at private schools in my neighborhood. One school is a 10 minute walk away and the other is one stop away. Besides that, I have another ALT position in Tokyo that I want to compare the pros and cons with the one I already have. The last two are interesting. The first one is a webmaster/design position in Tokyo and the other is teaching English at a beauty/fashion school. I would like either of the last two options because they are more towards art and design. Wish me luck.
Things are looking good for this new year. I am thankful to God for giving me opportunities and I will pray for guidance when I don’t know what to do. Whatever happens, I know everything will be fine and work out.
Hello everyone, today was a good day. I just got an offer at a Japanese junior highschool as an ALT in Tokyo. I start my new job next month so I am a bit excited and nervous because I will be the only native English speaker in the whole school. I am however, looking forward to using and learning Japanese and also working with a Japanese teacher on lesson plans. I hope this new experience will take me one step closer to getting on the PeaceBoat. I like the fact that I will have regular school hours and regular school holidays! Yes that’s right, 9-3pm and long summer and winter breaks. I am serious about learning Japanese and now I will be forced to use Japanese everyday, starting next month. I will however miss my Monday’s with Mina but I can’t stay at an English School forever. The work is comfortable and stable but it’s a dead end job. At least I feel like I will be escaping the English speaking bubble and getting more involved in Japanese society.
About my new roommate Kiyo. Definitely, different from the other pigs and buffaloes. Kiyo is pretty cute. That could spell trouble for my roommate Keishi who is single. hahah, I can’t wait to see how this plays out.
Hello everyone, spring is definitely the time for new things. I have two roommates who are moving out, too bad the pig is still living in the house! One new person is named Keishi and he’s a cool guy. We went out for drinks and just hung out. Finally, a roommate I can shoot the shit with. There is another room available and the candidates came to the house this weekend. The three so far is a college student, a office lady and a designer. I only met the student and she seemed like a good candidate. The only thing that I require for the new roommate is that they don’t stomp around like the buffalo because they will live above me. I don’t know what is going to happen this year but I am looking forward to it.
