The LIfe Safety Learning Center in Ikebukuro
This past weekend, Mina and I went to Ikebukuro to check out the Life Safety Learning Center. Why did we decide to go here you may be asking yourself, its because it was raining and I really wanted to checkout the earthquake room. All exhibitions are free and a bit lame except for the smoke maze and the earthquake room. In the smoke maze, you have three minutes to find the exit in a smoke filled mock apartment, there were a lot of dead ends and locked doors and you have to stay below 120 cms or they say over the intercom that you are dead. The smoke room was fun because we got to see people on the monitors and hear what they said. After the smoke room was the earthquake room which was more fun. Mina and I experienced what a level 7 earthquake feels like. All in all a nice day. We also tried the fire extinguisher simulation which was lame, I thought we were going to be able to spray different extinguishers at live fires but this was not the case. We were only able to use the water extinguishers against a lame and antiquated video screen. Oh well, I never used a fire extinguisher before.
Other side note, things are very abrasive with the red headed pig upstairs. Some heated words were exchanged when she came home at 5 in the morning, making a ruckus. More need not be said, all I have to say is that “The Pig” has problems.
Besides all that noise, I am planning my summer vacation and how I am going to pay my city taxes which are a whoppping 160.000 yen or around 1,600 usd. OMG, its so expensive to live in Tokyo. My taxes in Yokohama were around 30.000 or 300 usd total. Yikes. Oh well, I guess that’s the price you pay to live in Tokyo.
