So I tried to get my girlfriend’s tshirt printed but it was taking longer than expected. I opted instead to get the traditional candy and flowers combo with a hand made card. The cost of the flowers and chocolates was the same as the flowers I sent last year. Flower shops love V-Day!
The Godiva box of chocolates

The flowers look sort of like these but better. I like the Japanese sensiblity when it comes to flower design. I think I will take a class on Ikebana [ 生け花 ] which literally means life of flowers or something of that effect. Looking for a flower arrangement like the one I bought was hard and I could see the difference. FYI, short stemmed bouquets are very fashionable here in Japan.

And the piece de resistance, my designed card. The cheese tart is from the movie DMC, where the protagonist, Negishi aka Krauser sings his most popular pop song about cheese tarts. We like the song and I sing it to my girlfriend all the time. It’s cheesy (pun intended), I know but who cares, it’s not for you guys!

I know its not that awesome but I tried. I had to finish the card quick because I wanted to give her all the presents while she still was at work. Another piece of info for you clueless guys out there, women love getting gifts at the office, it makes them feel special and even more important, the other women get really jealous! ahahah, petty I know but that’s what women like.
Now what to do on the actual day?

The title of this post is : This is the meaning of difficult. I am trying to typographically design Mina’s tshirt design with Japanese Kanji. Since I only know basic kanji, its hard to figure out the nuances of the Kanji. All I see are radicals and the dictionary definition. I am a long way from designing in Japanese but I will give it my best effort. It is pretty interesting though, to work like this. I am out of my element yet the challenge is interesting.

A new project : designfresh – a web design start up. I tried to incorporate the D and the F into a juicy orange.
What do you think?
I know I have been posting a lot but I really need your help with critiques. Anything good or bad, it doesn’t matter. Thanks!

Next is a brain and broccoli combo.

Inspired by the Mono erasers

Here are the newest logo ideas for TMP:

There is one more day left for this and I am going all out. I need to submit a shiny 3d version but they all seem corny. Doshiiyo?

I have been possessed by the design demons and I have done another project. This time for a Tokyo web based fashion magazine called FashionSnap. Here are two initial logo concepts. I am tired but I had to put my ideas out to them before someone else does.
FIrst one, based on Helvetica Neue’s ‘F’:

The next one is based on Didot’s beautiful typeface:

This is enough for today. I will revist TMP tomorrow. My goodness, another day focused on dayum triangle!
