About

My name is Derek and I am a Graphic Designer who packed up everything to teach English in Japan. I live in a trendy neighborhood in Tokyo called Shimo-Kitazawa, where $10 will buy you 2 hours of all you stand cheap alcohol. When I am not teaching, I am designing and traveling. This blog is about my daily happenings and anything of note that occurs during my time in Japan. During my time in Japan so far I have: eaten whale, horse and blowfish, was crammed into a rush hour train by station attendants, passed the Japanese road test in a single try, went to the Penis festival in Kawasaki, taught English to several Japanese celebrities, drank more alcohol then I ever have in my life, bought a yukata (see the picture above) and countless other things. I really love Japan but New York City is where my heart will always be. I am loving life, though I could always use more money. I am glad I took the chance to get out of my comfort zone, I will never be the same ever again.
